The M. DuMont Schauberg (MDS) group of companies publish the subscription newspapers Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, Kölnische Rundschau and the newsstand newspaper EXPRESS. Moreover, in Saxony-Anhalt MDS publishes Mitteldeutsche Zeitung in Halle/Saale. In July 2006, MDS acquired 50 percent of the shares and a vote at Druck- und Verlagshaus Frankfurt am Main GmbH (Frankfurter Rundschau). In August 2006, MDS could announced the 25-percent-participation in the Israeli Ha'aretz Group, Tel Aviv. The total circulation of the MDS daily newspapers is thus now more than one million. In November MDS takes over the Bundesanzeiger Verlag.

In 2002, M. DuMont Schauberg celebrated its 200th anniversary.

As fourth largest newspaper publisher in Germany, MDS holds participating interests in numerous advertising newspapers and radio broadcasters.

MDS's national activities include the DuMont Literature and Art Publishing Company as well as the DuMont Calendar Publishing Company. The DuMont Travel Literature Publishing Company was introduced in 2004 in "Mairs Geographischer Verlag" and now trades under the name of MAIRDUMONT.
