studio dumont
In the year 1964, studio dumont was founded out of "a
heartfelt solidarity of the M. DuMont Schauberg company and the
newspaper with the city and its people". This is how it was
put at the time by the publisher Kurt Neven DuMont. Since then,
studio dumont has wanted to reflect what moves the people of
Cologne as a meeting place for culture and communication; it wants
to inform, deepen knowledge, stimulate and entertain. Today, studio
dumont is located on the 1st floor of the newly constructed DuMont
Carrés in Breite Straße. Besides numerous public events,
such as podium discussions and exhibitions from diverse areas of
knowledge and life, studio dumont also provides a representative
framework for events of up to 200 persons.
Hedwig Neven DuMont, the wife of the publisher and editor Prof.
Alfred Neven DuMont, was head of studio dumont from 1987 to 2005
and remained true to the tradition of picking up on events
resulting from the work of the newspaper, but also ideas from the
general population.
On 1 October 2005, Isabella Neven DuMont took over from her mother
as head of studio dumont.
She has set herself the objective to appeal increasingly also to a
young public.
