"wir helfen" in Halle
History
The chair of the association "wir helfen" founded in Halle in 2001 is held by Hedwig Neven DuMont. Besides her, the association's members are: Jutta Kiegeland (deputy chairperson), Dagmar Szabados (mayor in Halle), Gerlinde Kuppe (Social Welfare Minister of Saxony-Anhalt), Eberhard Doege (CDU deputy town clerk in Halle), Eberhard Jüttner (state chairman of the German Association of Welfare Organizations [Deutscher Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband]), Bernard-Michael Raubuch (regional director of Deutsche Bank in Halle) and Franz Peter Ewert (managing director).
In late summer 2002, when the great flood catastrophe also swashed over Saxony-Anhalt, 5.6 million euros were collected and handed out to more than 330 persons affected in a special campaign in which Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger and EXPRESS participated.
The association directs its main focus on the support of disadvantaged children and young persons in Saxony-Anhalt. It has supported the following projects:
