Mitteldeutsche Zeitung

The first issue of the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung was published on 17th March 1990 as an independent newspaper with no association to any particular political party. Its predecessor was the "Freiheit", which first appeared on 16th April 1946 as the organ of the ruling SED party for the province of Saxony, and later became the organ of the SED directorate for the district of Halle.

With its locally aligned profile, the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung is one of the highest circulation regional newspapers in Germany. Its area of distribution is the southern part of Saxony-Anhalt.

Around 150 journalists, plus numerous freelance workers and correspondents, provide broad local and regional coverage along with well-founded background information from around the globe.

The Mitteldeutsche Zeitung thereby offers high journalistic standards and quality to its readers. In addition, it brings together both private and commercial buyers and sellers with the largest small-ads market in the region.
